I have a passion for helping homeschool families find the right tools for them. Kids should be able to be educated at home, regardless of any disabilities or difficulties. There are so many excuses people make for not Homeschooling their children.
- My kid has an IEP, so they cannot be homeschooled.
- Wrong! Your kid can still be homeschooled. There are many resources that they can use as remedial activities to help improve their Math, Reading, and Writing skills without being in the brick-and-mortar school setting.
- Although IEPs are not valid via homeschooling, you can still support the unique and specific needs of your child.
- I have no idea where to start!
- No worries! That is what this blog is for. For starters, each child has their own unique learning style. This means that they learn in their own unique way. For example, your kid may learn better by watching videos or listening to music, rather than reading out of textbooks or novels. Discovering the way your child learns is incredible beneficial to homeschooling and figuring out the absolute best way to teach your child.
- My kids will not get a social life!
- This is incorrect! Homeschoolers can be just as socialized as kids who attend public schools. There are many extracurricular activities available to homeschoolers. Personally, I attended a square dancing class, and at the end of the year we participated in a competition. We got to know many other homeschool families this way, and it helped us to socialize.
- Field trips, field trips, field trips! – There are so many fun field trips that are available to homeschool families each year. You can go to museums, parks, or even your local church! There are so many community activities where your kids can socialize with other homeschool families.
- My kids won’t get the proper education!
- If you as the parent put enough time and effort into truly homeschooling, your children WILL be educated! Possibly even more than their public school counterparts. YOU get to choose their curriculum, and YOU get to choose what they learn. Most states have homeschool evaluators that require you to meet with them in order to ensure your child is getting the right amount of schooling each year. Your local school district will require this information to make sure your kid is being educated.
This blog will focus on these areas, plus SO MUCH MORE! Homeschooling is a very broad topic, and there are many topics to cover, and many questions to answer. We are just scratching the surface! Homeschooling is a wonderful opportunity to give your kids a personalized education that you have complete control over.
